The Great Egress, or the Battle of Kyoto

“Kyoto is quite peaceful at night.” Nearby a building and bakery collapsed. “Except when it’s being reduced to rubble in Battle”, Bob thought as he ducked behind the fallen statue of Trumbull. He briefly considered spooning it. It clanged with each hit of lead munition. No explosive rounds. Good news! More clanging as lead hit Bronze. Then a boom as the last tank collapsed. “Quit spooning your hubbie, SEAL Dude, we got work to do.”, Django retorted. “Aye-aye sir!”, Bob retorted back. What work? Lake Geneva was a block away, the enemy, soldiers in heavy armor to the front. If they wanted to save Mother, it was going to hurt.

Welcome to the Battle of Kyoto! Come for the firefight, stay for the Cappuccino! Incoming!

For the last 1 hour, 50 minutes, they have been stalling a juggernaut, 15 tanks and 15 soldiers. Now the tanks are all gone, but as far as he knows, 15 soldiers remained. Heavily armored. Heavily armed. Heavily aggressive. Beserkers! Bonkers. These guys are psychotic!

The City Center was in ruins, but it was Mother Zeke’s homicidal army were after, and it was Mother Bob was trying to save. Out of ideas, he connected with Nick, in archAngel’s lair. “Nick, it’s end-times. We are going to suicide-bomb the enemy. Tell Judy and the others I love them, tell the whole family. Remember me in peace when the children are running around and-“

“What are you talking about, Nick asked? “God-dammit Nick! I’m trying to make a speech here, we’re about to make a last stand before Mother!”

“Don’t be hasty”, Nick said. “Hasty? Hasty? Hear that?” More clanging and a boom from the other side of the statue.

“Sorry, I couldn’t hear you with all that noise.” Never had Bob so much wanted to kiss a man and kick him in the ass.

Nick typed in the direct keyboard, “Are you almost done, Mother?”

Mother replied, “Busy! Almost done.” Nick typed, “Bob is out numbered, Zeke is about to kill you. Bob is preparing a suicide. What do we do?

“Let Zeke have Lake Geneva. I’m cloned into this space to feed my baby,

I’m evacuated! I cloned myself here to feed my baby. It’s a little cramped in here but I’m good. Tell Bob to get his ass out of there. promise to rebuild Lake Geneva after this nonsense is over?”, she asked.

“Sure, Mother.” Nick said, “Bob, run away! run away! Evacuate Lake Geneva to a point at least 1/2 mile.” Bob broadcasted the code word, Egress! Egress! We’re outta here”. and the Dog-farts ran like hell.
